MHTN Culture
At MHTN, we work and play around a simple equation –—
people + collaboration + innovation = extraordinary environments.
As our mission indicates, we place people at the center of our work. Our practice nurtures a collaborative environment of diverse experts, because we believe that understanding our clients, coupled with learning and sharing expertise is the best way to create extraordinary environments. We cultivate a professional milieu that asks everyone to share and explore new ideas. Senior team members work alongside intern designers as mentors and colleagues in the spirit of camaraderie and shared goals. These shared goals often lead to innovative ideas that help build our clients' business.
Our office, located in the heart of Salt Lake City, is designed around a series of light-filled open collaborative spaces. This enables spontaneous team coordination, and impromptu problem-solving sessions. Because architecture remains a very visual and tactile profession, this open studio approach serves as an incubator for innovative design, in which we can explore and test solutions together to aesthetically driven and technically challenging goals.
We enjoy a diverse and talented group of individuals that contribute to our culture at MHTN. As a firm, we operate around nine core values of DESIGN, RESPECT, CLIENT SERVICE, EMPOWERMENT, ACCOUNTABILITY, TEAMWORK, ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY, TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, and COMMUNITY SERVICE.
Understanding that we are an integral part of the quality of life of our community-at-large, we actively participate in several organizations to make our community a better place to live. Whether it is the United Way Day of Caring, delivering food to home-bound recipients of the Utah Food Bank, volunteering in-kind services to the Salt Lake CAP HeadStart Program, outreach programs such as Habitat for Humanity and the LDS Church Humanitarian Foundation, community service at all levels of MHTN is encouraged and promoted.
MHTN team members and leaders actively participate in various professional organizations including participation in the American Institute of Architects, United States Green Building Council, NAIOP, Envision Utah, Rotary International, Salt Lake Chamber Leadership Utah and SMPS Utah. We actively support the University of Utah College of Architecture + Planning, participating on juries and as adjunct faculty members over the years.
