Zions Bank Tower
With a new stone and glass skin replacing its original copper cladding, the Zions Bank Tower projects an image reflecting its role as the Bank's flagship. Anchoring the corner of South Temple and Main Street in Salt Lake City, the newly-clad tower and the Gateway West Tower frame a portal between the Central Business District and the LDS Church Campus.
Incorporating richly-textured granite and limestone details, the re-cladding of the Tower contributes a new scale to the former Kennecott Building. By creating a distinctive base and unique roof element, the Zions Bank Tower respects its urban context while adding interest to Salt Lake City's skyline.
The re-cladding effort has taken place with the building fully occupied and operational. While this process was not without logistical challenges, the tenants of the building have been rewarded with larger windows, better views and improved day-lighting. At the same time, Salt Lake City has gained a new presence at the heart of its urban core.
