Ronald McDonald Family Room
Primary Children's Medical Center
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is a respite for parents and family members with children at Primary Children's Medical Center, providing a bit of home within the walls of the hospital while remaining close to their child’s bedside. The Family Room is a warm and inviting space, which offers the opportunity for a parent to take a nap, enjoy a meal, do laundry, have time to reflect, converse with a fellow parent and take a shower. The Family Room provides four Retreat Rooms without windows, where visitors may take a nap and sleep at any time of the day, providing much needed rest for many parents and family members. There is also a fully equipped kitchen complete with fully stocked pantry, refrigerators and freezers, as well as, a range and ovens for individual or volunteer prepared meals.
The Family Room aesthetically represents the Wasatch Front for visitors, taking inspiration from the surrounding vistas and mixing soothing greens and blues with warm muted tones mixed with natural materials such as wood, stone-look tile, chiseled rock and pebbles to evoke the local surrounding mountain ranges and valley. Creating a relaxed and comforting environment throughout the Family Room. The expanse of the west facing windows provides views of the Salt Lake Valley and a connection to the surrounding landscapes.
