Design Challenge
EXISTING UTILITIES OF ADJACENT HEALTHCARE FACILITIES
The utility infrastructure modifications required for HELIX posed many challenges for the project team to resolve as existing utilities were critical to the neighboring healthcare buildings. The installation of new utilities without compromising existing services to adjacent hospital facilities was accomplished through intense coordination between the design team, University of Utah’s facilities group, and general contractor. Keeping the project within budget and on schedule was achieved by the team through commitment, collaboration, and creative-thinking.
