Our National Reputation

MHTN is recognized as national experts in Higher Education Student Life design. Twenty years ago, we designed our first Student Union, and have completed over 50 student centers since then. Our national student center programming database enables owners to benchmark and compare their facilities to peer institutions. With this knowledge, and MHTN’s Student Life Thought Leadership, we design student-centered environments to reflect and enhance each unique campus culture and vision.

MHTN Architects is a nationally recognized award-winning Architecture Firm. Recognized for outstanding educational, civic, community, health, and workplace environments, MHTN has been honored by distinguished organizations including the American Institute of Architects, International Interior Design Association, Association of College Unions International, Public Interest Design Institute, and the Association for Learning Environments.

Our History

Established in 1923 by founding firm Ashton & Evans, MHTN began its legacy in design by contributing to Utah’s regional identity with mountain west icons such as the original Salt Lake International Airport, and the 1926 reconstruction of The Great Saltair Pavilion. It’s founder, Raymond J. Ashton, launched a tradition of impactful architecture by winning a design competition for the Student Union Building at the University of Utah.
